Tennis Bounces Back
On Thursday, September 17, the Willow Springs Lady Bear Tennis Team took on Waynesville with a devastating loss, 8 to 1.
“This was a tough loss for the girls, as we were looking to avenge an earlier loss to Waynesville. Bethany Carter picked up our only win in the #2 singles position; otherwise, it was just a rough day for everyone,” commented Coach Spence.
On Saturday, September 19, the tennis girls had a Varsity tournament at Rolla. Alicen Rothermich and Bethany Carter won 2nd place in the doubles in Flight A with a win over Rolla but with a loss to Jefferson City Helias.
In Flight B Doubles pair, Amber Grogan and Tamara Caldwell received 3rd place beating Waynesville but losing to Helias. BreAnna Newman and Caitlyn Wiegand finished 4th in flight C. They lost to both Waynesville and Rolla.
The Doubles pair of Whitney Dampier and Krista Gale got 2nd place in Flight D. Dampier and Gale won against Waynesville but lost to Rolla. Overall, the Team got third in the tourney.
“This was a nice bounce back tournament for the girls, after being disappointment at Waynesville. Ali and Bethany really played great tennis beating Rolla’s best team and battling Helias to the end. Whitney and Krista also got a big win over Waynesville in their first Varsity tournament,” said Coach Spence.
