Crime Scene Investigation: Willow Springs. There’s a mystery in the Algebra room, and the math department wants you to solve it. That was the story for the Algebra I students last week, anyway.

To challenge the common perception that math is boring and monontonous, freshman and sophomore math teachers, Mrs. James and Coach Lee, devised an activity where students use their mathmatical knowledge to solve a “case”.

Students walked into the darkened classroom with black lights leading the way.The teachers had written twenty math problems and a surprise bonus question around the room with a hi-lighter. Whoever solved the most problems correctly, “solved” the case and won a Subway gift card.

“It was cool and made math seem fun,” said freshman Allison Chaney. She was one of the several groups that won last week.  Other winners included  seniors Erika Renshaw and Maegan Bell, freshmen Logan Wake, Haden Smith, Miranda Braiser, Donnie Hinten and Ashli Riden, and juniors Jennifer Green and Megan Cauldwell.
