Football Season Comes to an End
“We are going to be really good; I am excited for next year!” exclaimed Head Coach Matt Perkins.
The Bears football season ended on Wednesday, November 4th, against the Fair Grove Eagles. This game was a first round playoff game. The Bears had not made it to a playoff game since 2003. Unfortunately, the Bears did not go far and lost to Fair Grove, ending their season.
“I didn’t want the season to end, but we made a great improvement from last year. It’s only going to go up,” stated Senior running back Dalton Woodley.
The Bears ended with a 4-7 record (four wins and seven losses). This is huge improvement from last year’s 1-9 season. The teams that the Bears defeated were the Central Bulldogs, Cabool Bulldogs, Cuba Wildcats, and Houston Tigers. The Bears hope to have a good off-season and be more prepared for next year.
“At first I didn’t know if I wanted to play football. Later in the season, I was glad I did and wanted to win…. Coach Mac made me a better man,” said senior Joe O’Conner.
The Bears hope to have a good off-season and be more prepared for next year.
“We have a great team, but we still have so much to improve on. Next year, we will emphasize the small things even more,” remarked Coach Mac.
