Shop close to HO-HO-Home
With the holiday season fast approaching, many people are making plans to head out of town to get their shopping done. However, instead of spending a lot of gas money to go out of town, why not shop locally and save yourself money while benefiting Willow Springs’ businesses?
History teacher Mr. Knapp stated, “Shopping at home benefits the community through sales tax and job openings. With the city in the condition it is in, the extra money could really help out this season.”
Although changing your Springfield or Branson plans may not sound very glamorous or exciting, keep in mind that it’s important to support the economy of your home town. When we shop locally, we support our town’s growth and prosperity instead of supporting the already bustling cities of Springfield and Branson. By doing this, we’re encouraging more businesses to move into Willow Springs.
You may be wondering where you can find that perfect gift in a small town like Willow. Remember, stores don’t have to be big and popular to supply unique and special gifts for your loved ones. Beautiful and timeless gifts can be bought at the Antique Mall by Hillbilly Junction, and cute clothes are always on the racks of ALCO, along with craft items and bath and body products.
Have a comic lover on your Christmas list? Dirt Road Comics and Collectables is the place for you! They have a wide variety of comic books and other paraphernalia.
Ferguson Drug is also a great place to shop for a Willow Springs Bear fan. They have a collection of apparel and trinkets to support our home team. Also, a dollar from every item you purchase goes to support the Willow Springs School.
Gift certificates are also a great idea for that one person on your list that’s always so hard to buy for. You can purchase gift certificates to any of the local restaurants such as: Pizza Americana, Subway, McDonalds, Sonic, Willow Springs BBQ, Bamboo House, and Smiley’s.
“I know shopping locally will better my community and will save me money, so this year I am going to stay close to home during the Christmas season,” said sophomore Victor Lutz.
Now that you have some tips to save money and support your community this holiday season, take the money that you saved and use it to buy yourself and extra-special gift this Christmas.
