On Saturday, November 7th, the 2009 MSHSAA State Cross Country Championships were held at Oak Hills Golf Center in Jefferson City.

To qualify for State, you either have to be in the top 15 individuals or place second as a team.  Six WSHS students made the cut.

For the boys, Steven Cook, the lonely boy, finished 15th which was just the right spot to make it to state. Unfortunately, Steven was unable to finish the race because of dehydration.

On the girls side, three of the five girls made it to state. Ciara Sisco placed 6th, Mary Kate placed 3rd , and for the 4th year in a row, Senior Kelsie Hutsell finished first with the time of 20:56:43.

At the state meet Ciara placed 87th, Mary Kate placed 34th, and Kelsie placed 8th. Kelsie is now the only cross country athlete  in Willow to be all-state(in the top 25) 4 times.

Congrats to all the runners and what a great way to finish the season!
