On Tuesday, December 8th, the Bears played at Licking against the Licking Wildcats. The Bears, wanting to come back from their previous two losses, were ready to play.

The game started off close with back to back scoring from both sides. But then in the second half, the Bears’ defense stepped it up to case many Wildcat turnovers. This lead to points the other way. The Bears were on fire from three, hitting ten total. Seven of which were stroked in by Taylor James. The Bears continued to lay it on the Wildcats and soon the game turned into a blow out. The Bears played strong to the end, and when the final buzzer sounded, the Bears had won 74-52.

The Bears had a great game on both sides of the ball. The Bears scored 52 points in the second half alone. Many of these points were contributed by Taylor James and Steven Mallow who were the leading scorers for the Bears with 28 and 26 points. Ben Denbow was the leading scorer for the Wild Cats with 17 points. The Bears’ defense caused havoc with 10 steals.

Each of the Bears basketball teams had a successful night!  The freshmen and junior varsity both had wins as well.  The Bears hope to contiunue to show these kinds of numbers in upcoming games.

“We played well defensively most of the night. However the offense struggled in the first half. I would credit defensive intensity and shot selection for the second half offensive surge,” stated Coach Mallow. “Defensively Allen Brasier did a great job on Licking’s Ben Denbow. We just need to continue improving.”
