Willow Triumphs over West Plains
On Tuesday, January 12th, the Bears played at home in a big rival game against the West Plains Zizzers. This rivalry has been known as the civil war because the northern town is going against the southern.
The Bears came out on fire and played great defense and scooped up the rebounds against the Zizzers. By the end of the first quarter, the Bears were up by five. Both teams continued to battle and play great defense. At the half, the score was only 19-17, Bears up by two.
In the second half, the score remained close until the last quarter when the Bears pulled out the lead. The time expired, and just like the real civil war, the north won. The final score was Willow-49, West Plains-39.
“We played great, and it felt good to beat the Zizzers by ten,” stated Taylor James who hit five threes.
The junior varsity also had an exciting win over West Plains in over time. These games move the varsity to a 4-5 record and the junior varsity to a 7-1 record.
