Bears Brought Down by Bulldogs
On Tuesday the 16th, the Bears played their last home game against the Cabool Bulldogs. This night was a special night for the seniors because it was designated as Senior Night.
After the seniors were acknowledged and walked out with their parents, the game was started. The Bears came out and had the lead by a few in the beginning but not for long. The Bulldogs took the lead by one at the end of the first quarter. The Bulldogs held the lead till half and the score at halftime was Cabool-21, Bears-26.
In the second half, the Bears struggled to shoot the ball, but the Bulldogs did not and were able to extend their lead. The game was close until the fourth quarter when the Bulldogs were able to pull away. With time running out, the Bears were out of luck for a come back. The Bears lost by 13 with a final score of Bulldogs-61, Bears-48.
This was an upsetting loss for all the Bears but especially the two seniors of the team Michael Grindstaff and Steven Mallow. Luckily, this night was not a total lost for the Bears. The junior varsity Bears won with a final score of 69-42. These games move the Bears varsity to 10-11 record, and the Bears junior varsity to a 14-3 record.
“Give Cabool credit; they out played us in every phase of the game,” commented Coach Mallow.
