Bears Tame the Tigers
On Friday, February 19th, the Bears played away against the Houston Tigers. This would be a very important conference game for the Bears.
The Bears started off from the start playing very good but saw they were going to have trouble guarding Houston’s Kyle Poynter. At the half the Bears had a lead but the Tigers were on their tail with a score of Bears- 37, Tigers- 32.
In the second half, the score remained close with the lead going back and forth. Every time the Tigers would rally, the Bears kept rallying back. Then in the fourth quarter, Taylor James knocked down a three at the end of the game to put the Bears up. Kyle Poynter shot a last second shot, but it rimmed out and the Bears won. The final score was Bears-65, Tigers- 62.
The Bears leading scorer was Taylor James with 25 points. The leading scorer for the Tigers was Kyle Poynter with an amazing 50 points. The Bears played great and won a very important game. The junior varsity also won with a final score of 52-38. These wins move the Bears to a 11-11 record and 5-2 in SCA play and the junior varsity Bears to a 16-4 record and undefeated in the SCA play.
