On Tuesday, February 23rd, the Bears traveled to Mansfield to take on the Mansfield Lions. This would be the last game for the Bears before the district tournament.

The Lions came out on fire shooting very well and were able to get a lead by 3 after one quarter of play. The story was different in the second quarter. The Bears played very good defense and were able to hold the Lions to only six more points before the half. At the half, the Bears had the lead with a score of Bears- 29, Lions-24.

In the second half, the Bears continued to play very well and were able to extend their lead. Then in the fourth quarter, the Bears made six out of seven free throws to preserve the win. The Bears won by ten with a final score of Bears- 57, Lions- 47.

The top scorer for the Bears was Steven Mallow with 20 points. The top scorers for the Lions were Nathan Jones and Christian Gray, both with 11 points. The Bears played great and showed improvement on the defensive side. This win moves the Bears to a 12-11 record. The Bears hope to continue this success as they enter the district tournament.

The junior varsity also played great and won with a final score of 52-47. This game was the last game of the season for the junior varsity Bears. The Bears ended their season with an amazing record of 17-4 and undefeated in the conference!

“I thought Allen Brasier did a great job tonight. He held their big man to two points on the evening. In fact, after the first quarter, we played decent defensively as a team. Our help side was good and we rebounded well,” continued Coach Mallow.
