Recently, the senior class at Willow Springs received a letter from a student at Susan Moore High School, Mississippi. Senior Tracy Jackson wrote informing them of a contest that she was participating in with her class. Each student picked a school at random and wrote  to them and asked for a response. The student that receives the most letters back, wins a prize.

Willow Springs’ seniors were instantly intrigued and captivated by the idea of communicating with random teens across the US. It didn’t take long for them to convince English teacher Mr. Spence to make this a project for them as well.

By the next class period, Mr. Spence had printed and passed out the guidelines. Alphabetically, students decided on a random state, then by the wonders of Google Maps, zoomed in to find a city or town they thought sounded good. In that next couple of days, WS seniors researched and wrote to the school they had chosen.

Like Susan Moore High School, there will also be a prize given to one of our seniors with the most responses; however, it is still to be determined. When asked about what he thought about The Amazing Mail Race, Mr. Spence said,” It will be very interesting to read letters from random students and provides our seniors with a nice opportunity to do the same for them.”
