On Tuesday, March 23rd, the Bears played against the Liberty Eagles at Mtn. View in the first round of the SCA tournament. The Bears had a challenging game playing against the second ranked team in the SCA. The Bears were down by three with a score of 3-0 by the end of the 6th inning. Then in the 7th inning, the Bears had couple runs of their own and made the score 3-2. Sadly, the Bears struck out and lost.

Dalton Woodley pitched for the Bears in this game and had seven strike outs and zero walks. Hitting for the Bears was fairly good with Woodley, Logan Wake, and Joe O’Conner all hitting one single. Also Garret Engh and Jared Hummel had two hits and Woodley and Engh both had a RBI (Runner Batted In).

The next day, the Bears traveled back to Mtn. View to take on the Ava Bears. The Bears played very good this game and won with a score of 9-6. Dylan Gale pitched agame winner. Hitting for the Bears was very good with Woodley and Engh with three hits, Hummel with two hits, and Gale and Josh Tooley with one hit.

For the last game of the tournament, the Bears took on the Mnt. Grove Panthers. The Bears didn’t have a good game and missed too many opportunities. The Bears lost with a final score of 12-2.

“Our pitching was pretty sound in these tournament games,” stated head coach Coach Rogers.
