On Monday, April 19th, the Willow Springs Bears’ baseball team played the Mountain Grove Panthers at home. The Bears had a tough game playing against a very good Mountain Grove team.

In the first inning, the Panthers got out to an early lead by one. Then in the second inning, the Panthers scored again, but the Bears matched it with two scores of their own. One was hit by Joe O’Conner to bring Josh Tooley in and the other run for the Bears came from when Tooley got a hit to send Jared Hummel home. The Panthers took the lead again in the third inning with three more scores to make the score 2-5.

The score stayed this way until the sixth inning when the Panthers decked on eight more points. The Bears were not able to come back from such a deficit, and the game ended with a final score of Panthers-13, Bears-2.

The Bears had a tough game making many errors, which ended up costing them the game. The Bears hope to rebound from this loss and improve on their 3-7 record.

“The Mountain Grove game was a disappointing loss. We had two starters out so that caused us to have a couple mix ups. I also feel like we didn’t come to play, and the field conditions were bad so that didn’t help either,” stated infielder Dalton Woodley.
