Willow’s Got Talent
As another quarter has begun, the Willow Springs High School held their annual quarterly attendance assembly on Monday, March 29, 2010. This gave students, who have missed two days or less during 3rd quarter, a chance to put their names in for the grand drawing. There was a total of 46 students who put their name in the drawling one time for having missed only 2 days of school. Students who missed only 1 day put their name in twice, which consisted of 59 students. Forty-five students missed no school during 3rd quarter and submitted their name three times.
After the attendance assembly, students who scored well on last year’s EOC were recognized and received a free Big Mac card. There was a total of 40 students who did excellent on the EOC in Algebra I, 55 students in Biology I, and 61 students in Language Arts II.
Following the recognition of these students, Candice Dickman’s Talent Show took place. Opening the show with their skit for Speech and Debate, Crystal Blagg and Eddie Wilson performed for the student body. Whitney Dampier, Becca Pikul, Payden Newman, and Jonathan Hamby showed their talent through singing. Eryn Alcorn and the cheerleaders performed their All American Cheerleader dance routine and Crystal Blagg and dance crew performed. Each act was judged by Mr. Spence, Mrs. Reed, and Coach Mac. As the talent show came to an end, the scores were tallied and the winner for best performance was:
- Eddie Wilson & Crystal Blagg
- Eryn Alcorn and the cheerleaders
- Crystal Blagg’s dance crew
- Latin Heat
The vocal winner was:
- Whitney Dampier
- Jonathan Hamby
- Becca Pikul
- Becca, Whitney, & Payden
Overall, the Talent Show was a lot of fun and had many great performers. It took a lot of nerve for the ones who participated in the show, and congratulations to the winners.
