The fall 2010 sports season has started.  Zach Cunningham, senior tightend said, “We have worked hard this summer preparing for the season, and now it’s finally here!”

Zach also mentioned the hard work and dedication throughout the summer with seven on seven and three hour daily practices. The football team traveled to a Branson camp over the summer and also lifted weights every weekday morning, with a turn out of fifty or more guys.

Zach stated, “Mt.View is the main team we are pushing hard to defeat.” The Bears went to Cabool last Friday for the Jamboree. Fans seemed to agree that our line wasn’t as sturdy as most people had predicted. Many also say things will be more fierce this coming Friday against Reeds Spring. The Willow Springs football team would like everyone to come out to support the team.

The Lady Bears Tennis team has also made preparations for the upcoming season. Coach Terrie Rhoades hosted a five day camp from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Booster Field courts. Head Coach Marty Spence has the girls out there every day after school drilling and serving for two hours. The Bears have an alumni players vs. current players scrimmage this Thursday, August, 26th.

There are seven returning players and three newcomers for the Bears. The ladder is not final as of now but will be shortly. Ali Rothermich, number one last season in singles, will be doubles only this season due to a knee injury. Bethany Carter is the number one in singles so far this season. She went to a Drury Camp this summer while working hard with private lessons.

The Lady Bears tennis players are looking for success in the upcoming tournaments and intend to strive for a district win.
