The Willow Springs Lady Bears played host to Ava on Monday night. The 7th grade team was hoping to make it two wins in a row, and the 8th grade team was looking for their first win.

The seventh grade Bears beat Ava in the B game with a final of 19-15. Jaci Story led her team to victory in the “B” game with 3 points and 3 aces.

In the A match, Willow Springs fell short with a final of 25-12, 16-25 and 25-27. In game one, Dayla Davis led the Lady Bears with 8 points, followed by 5 points from Shilo Letterman and 4 points from Kassidy Alexander. In game two the team struggled, earning 8 points. In the third game the Bears continued to struggle with missed serves and dropped balls. Kendra Aldridge led the team in game three with 5 points.

Coach Valarie Jackson said, “It was going to all boil down to who made the least amount of mistakes. When a game is that close, you have to make sure you get to the ball and you get your serve over.”

The Willow Springs 8th grade lost the B game 15-16. Kelsey Stolba led with 3 points. In the A match Molly Martin served 5 straight points and all 5 were aces. Martin did this on two different rotations to help Willow Springs past Ava with a 25-22 win. She finished with 10 points and 9 aces.

In game two Willow Springs struggled offensively and defensively and took a 15-25 loss. In game three Willow Springs continued to struggle, but managed a 25-23 win. Kyla Hutsell led with 4 points and 4 aces. She also had 2 kills. Molly Martin and Hannah Duncan both contributed on defense with 3 digs each. Madison Osborn gave Willow Springs a boost with 3 assists for the night.
