“Cabool came to our house and kicked our behinds!” lamented Coach Valarie Jackson about Monday night’s junior high volleyball results. “This was our first and only meeting with them. They play volleyball the right way and we were no match for them. We lost the 7th and 8th grade match. My 7th graders always play hard and are still trying to learn, so they looked confused most of the time. But my 8th grade athletes don’t always put forth the effort to be successful. We can be the most talented team on the floor, but we don’t always play like it.”

The 7th grade final scores were Cabool 25, 21, 25 and Willow 18, 25, 14. Shilo Letterman led the team with 9 points and 5 aces. In the third game the Bears earned only 7 points.

In the 8th grade match, Cabool started strong and stayed strong. Brittany Whetstine scored 8 points in two different rotations, and Dominique Loman scored the final 3 points of the match. Cabool won 25-18.

In game two, Taylor Cauldwell scored the first two points and then Hannah Duncan reeled off 11 straight points and 6 aces. Willow Springs led 16-9, and Molly Martin added 3 points, so Willow took a 20-9 lead. Cabool battled back scoring 13 straight points to take a 22- 20 lead and won the match 25-22.

The junior high volleyball Bears play Mountain Grove at home next Monday night.
