Bear Pride Band Competes in Springfield
by Brandon Coursen, Band Intern
The Bear Pride Band sleepily boarded the bus at 5:30 a.m. Saturday, October 2, to compete at the Valhalla Marching Band Festival hosted by Parkview High School in Springfield. Having performed at the previous night’s WSHS football game, the weary band members overcame their fatigue and tried their hardest in the band competition.

Their division consisted of nine schools. Having the highest musical effect score, they took 4th overall in their division, only one tenth of a point away from second place. According to band director Chris Cochran, the band will improve on this performance and kick face in events to come. Congratulations, Band!

I’m going to blame it on the lack of sleep!
next we’ll get that real big trophy!
you guys did great!!!!!!!! U GUYS WILL DO BETTER NEXT TIME I KNOW IT!
This year’s band program is in my opinion, the most motivated group I’ve seen during my
hs career. They make you actually want to watch the half time show. It’s cool to talk about the sweet band performance as much as the football game on Friday nights. Great job!
I think we did pretty good considering how tired we all were =D i agree with Mr. Cochran, we are gonna kick some face! Good job on the article Brandon!!
You guys are really good. I’ll admit, I acually enjoy watching you guys this year! I love the new “Under Construction” thing you guys do! Very cool!
Since we’re leaving later for competition, this Saturday, we should be awake completely and win this one.
Um yeah, we are definitely going to kick face tomorrow at the Reeds Springs contest.
Although, in my opinion we always kick face.
Told you that we would get the big trophy at Reed Springs
