Ms. Stuart Announces First Quarter Accelerated Reader Winners
by Courtney Stuart, Elementary Computer Teacher
The elementary school uses a program called Accelerated Reader (AR). It is a program that monitors students reading. There are three steps to using the program. First, students choose and read a fiction or non-fiction book. Teachers monitor reading including guided, paired and students reading independently. Second, students take a quiz. Teachers can create their own quizzes for those not available in Accelerated Reader. Third, the teacher receives the results of the quiz. Information from that is intended to assist, motivate reading, monitor progress, and target instruction.
A reading goal was set for each grade level and several of our students have reached their AR reading goal for the first quarter.
