Folklore Watches Shepherd of the Hills
by Katrina Earls
Earlier this semester, Mr. Kuhlmeier’s folklore class took a field trip to Branson, Mo. The folklore class had been reading the novel, The Shepherd of the Hills, and was privileged to have the opportunity to go see the play.
The group arrived at Branson around 2 p.m. and visited Branson Landing until about 5 p.m. before they went to Books-A-Million. Afterward, the students were taken to the Shepherd of the Hills grounds. They walked around taking group pictures and viewing Old Matt’s cabin. When 7 p.m. arrived, they made their way down the hill to watch the play.
“It was an extravaganza of modern theater,” replied Dustin Turner when asked what his overall impression was towards the play. Overall, the entire folklore class had a fun, enjoyable time and hope that the folklore class will be as privileged next year.
The students who attended this field trip were seniors Ronny Miles, Katrina Earls, Eddie Wilson, Patrick Smith, Kyle Smith, and Brittany Carroll, sophomores Chris Thomas and Dustin Turner, and freshmen Haley Porter, Jesse Ryan, and Brandy Barstow. Also able to attend was Alexis Burke, a former student of Willow Springs High School. Mrs. Miller and Mr. Kuhlmeier served as drivers and chaperones for the trip.
