It was homecoming night for the Alton Comets, but they didn’t stand a chance against the Willow Springs Bears. From the tip to the buzzer, the Bears led, and they ended the game 79-38.

In the first quarter, the Bears jumped out with a 18 point lead. That was the closest the Comets came to the Bears. At halftime, Willow was up 48-23. Alton outscored the Bears in the third quarter 18-17, but it wasn’t enough to catch up. Willow ended the game 79-38.

All ten players contributed offensively. Junior Joe Chilton broke the norm, as he was the first non-senior to play varsity this season.

“I was really proud of the way we bounced back after Tuesday’s loss at Marshfield,” said Coach Mallow. After a tough defeat against the Blue Jays, the Bears kept their focus on the next game. “This was our most complete game to date,” added Mallow. Willow continues their season with a strong record of 5-1.

The JV Bears also caught a win against the Comets. They now hold a 4-2 record.

The Bears will face the Norwood Pirates Tuesday, December 21 before they head off to the Blue and Gold Tournament during the Christmas Break.
