Beth Bunger, the daughter of middle school art teacher Karen Pitts, has illustrated three children’s books now available for sale on the Tate Publishing website. Mr. McGarry, the high school art teacher said, “I had her in art classes for four years. Her artwork was displayed everywhere! Even the state capitol! Some of it is displayed in Mrs. James’ office now. I love to see students using their art skills out in the real world.” Mr. McGarry brought Ms. Bunger’s accomplishments to the attention of The Educator. She attended college at Oklahoma Christian College in Edmond, Oklahoma, with a degree in graphic design and fine arts. She now does freelance for several design and publishing companies in Oklahoma City and Kansas.  She also has a website with her illustrations and paintings. Here are the books she has illustrated and their descriptions from the Tate website:

The Friendly Beasts
Stories of Jesus
by Sheryl Stewart

“The Friendly Beasts is a charming collection of short stories about the Nativity including modern versions of traditional legends and completely new stories. Within these tales, we see Jesus’ birth, life, ministry, death, and resurrection with new eyes: the humble eyes of our closest relatives in Creation, the animals. As they discover their part in God’s Plan of Salvation, the friendly beasts—and a few not so friendly—enable us to discover the miracle of God’s love for us all.”
