Horace Mann Insurance and Investment Companies recently made a generous donation to be used to benefit families in our community. Larry Sorrells, the local Horace Mann agent, matched the amount donated by Horace Mann, to make a total of $800.00 to be used to help Willow Springs students and community members.

Half of the funds have been used for FBLA Food Harvest. FBLA collects non-perishable food items to be used for holiday food baskets. Monies collected help pay for the perishable items needed to fill the baskets. Families who live in the Willow Springs School District may apply for these food baskets through M.U.N.C.H., a local food pantry center.  FBLA Food Harvest has been held since 1995, and each year more and more families within our district need assistance to help them through the winter months.

The other half of the funds were used to aid Bears For A Better Christmas, a program just completing its eighth year in operation at WSHS. This program benefits our students in multiple ways.  For example, students collect items like mittens, scarves, and hats during November to help people stay warm, and in December they collect toys to be used by M.U.N.C.H. to make sure that each child has a gift for the holiday.

Thank you, Horace Mann and Larry Sorrells, for your generous donations to these crucial community outreaches!
