On Thursday, January 27 the Willow Springs Lady Bears once again traveled to the Mansfield Tournament to compete. At this game, they played the Mountain Grove Lady Panthers.

Both teams played an intense game, with the Lady Bears battling toward the end to get back within winning reach. At the end of the fourth quarter, the Lady Bears were down by two when Allisha Shanks shot a three pointer. The shot rimmed out, but Kyndall Bunch got the rebound and put the game into overtime.

The Lady Bears switched into high gear during overtime and won the intense game 54 to 51. “Tonight our kids showed a lot of heart, battling from behind in the fourth quarter. They played hard and played together to pull off the comeback victory in overtime,” said Coach Gutscher after the game.

Kyndall Bunch was the top scorer with 16 points. Allisha Shanks followed close behind scoring 14 points. Kyra Bunch had 9 points. Kamryn Hutsell contributed  8 points, performing well in the clutch with free throws. Stephanie Williams and Alexis Privette each scored 3 points. Kayla Roberts had 1 point.

This win improves the Lady Bears’ record to 13-4 and earns them a spot in the championship game of the Mansfield Tournament. The next action for the Lady Bears will be against Norwood on Saturday, January 29 at 7:30 p.m.
