Stephanie Williams Named January Teenager of the Month
The Elks Lodge has selected Stephanie Grace Williams as January’s Teenager of the Month. She is the daughter of Larry and Ruth Williams, Willow Springs, Mo.
Stephanie has participated in many clubs and organizations throughout high school and has held many leadership roles. Her sophomore year of high school she was the Pep Club treasurer. Her junior year she was the femalel representative for the graduating class of 2011 and the Family Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) chapter and regional treasurer. Currently, she holds the office of president in the National Honor Society chapter and is the FCCLA chapter president and regional historian. As well as leadership throughout different clubs, Stephanie has been the team captain on the girls’ basketball team since her sophomore year.
The clubs and activities she is or has been involved in include the following: Math Club, FCCLA, Lady Lettermen, Spanish Society, Pep Club, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Student Council, Class Officer, National Honor Society, Lady Bear basketball, Cross Country and Track and Field. She has received All Conference Honorable Mention in both cross country and basketball. Stephanie has also received awards in track and field, including 4×800 meter relay district champion, sectional champion, and she placed seventh in the state.
Despite spending most of her time with all these activities, she has found time to help out other organizations. Stephanie has helped to better the community by helping with events such as highway trash clean-up, town litter clean-up, M.U.N.C.H clothing drive, and the Willow Springs Rotary Auction. She also has volunteered to help with the middle school basketball camp.
After high school, Stephanie hopes to play basketball at a collegiate level and pursue a master’s in education degree.
