Bears Defeat Thayer Bobcats
By Alissa Chapman
On February 4, the Bears traveled to Thayer to take on the Bobcats. Even with the low Willow supporter turnout due to illness and inclement weather, Willow dominated the Thayer Bobcats 65-47, taking a step closer to the conference title.
In the third quarter, the Bears pulled away from the Thayer Bobcats after only leading by 3 at halftime. By playing intense pressure defense and attacking on offense, Willow controlled the second half and defeated Thayer 63-45. “I thought this was as well as we played defensively in a long time. We took several charges and rebounded well defensively,” Coach Mike Mallow commented, “It was a team win, everyone contributed in some fashion.”
Individual Scoring: Clint Harper 16, Taylor James 15, Jared Hummel 12, Blayne Collins 7, Tyler Fredrick 7, Allen Brasier 4, Zach Cunningham 2
The Willow Springs Bears are now 15-4, and are 2-0 in the SCA. They will face the Salem Tigers Tuesday night at Munford Gymnasium.
