Sculptor Comes to Willow Springs Art Class
by Hannah Mooney
Pete Rendquest came to Willow Springs High School to give the art classes a workshop on sculptures.
Mr. Rendquest is nicknamed “The Man of Wire” because for the last fifteen years he has been making sculptures out of wires, such as wire clothing hangers. He started out as a graphic designer where he met his wife. Neither of them had any intentions of getting married but happened to fall in love.
He said he has a stack of sketch books at his home and said, “On rainy days when there is nothing else to do, I’ll open my book and find something to create out of wire and go with it.”
Pete Rendquest also said that he plans to start welding soon in order to make bigger sculptures out of wires.
Willow Springs High School appreciates Mr. Rendquest giving of his time and talents to inspire the art students.
