Attention College-Bound Students: March Scholarships

Boys State of Missouri (June 12 – 19) – Young men between the ages of 15 and 19 who have successfully completed their junior year in a Missouri high school are eligible to apply. Those enrolled are citizens of a mythical state designed to function exactly like the real State of Missouri. The program is designed to give each citizen a practical, working knowledge of his local and state government. Deadline: April 1, 2011
C.Y.C.L.E. Program is sponsored by Howell-Oregon Electric Cooperative – Any junior who would be interested in learning about state government, including a trip to the State Capitol as well as the Supreme Court should see Mrs. Petrus for more details.
Drury Leadership Academy – This Academy is for college-bound students who have completed the freshman, sophomore, or junior year in high school. The objective for DLA is to provide students with opportunities to learn about and practice leadership skills which will enhance their quality of life and prepare them to assume future leadership roles in society. Farm Kids for College Scholarship – Applicants must be pursuing careers in agriculture. 3 $1,000 scholarships will be available. All forms are available to print at http://www/nfo/Scholarships/Default.aspx Deadline: March 14, 2011
MFA Foundation Scholarship – This scholarship is sponsored by the Willow Springs MFA Agri-Services. Application criteria include: the applicant’s interest in furthering his/her education by engaging in studies relating to agriculture or other fields of study that benefit rural life; participation and leadership in school, church, and community activities; reputation for good citizenship and good moral character; financial need, sources of income and willingness to work; and satisfactory academic progress. Deadline: March 15, 2011
Missouri State University institutional and endowed scholarship applications are due March 31st. The FAFSA must be received by MSU by March 31st in order to be considered for the Charles Gallagher Student Financial Assistance Program, the federal work-study program and several other types of financial aid.
Shelter Foundation Scholarship Program – This scholarship is sponsored by Terry Newton, Shelter Mutual Insurance Agent of Willow Springs. Applicants are free to select any accredited college or university and any course of study they desire to pursue leading to an academic degree. Children of any Shelter Insurance agent or employee are not eligible to receive scholarships. Deadline: March 31, 2011
Willow Springs Local Scholarships – The application for over $26,000 in local scholarships is available on the school website, www.willowspringsschool.com. Go to the high school page, and then follow the left hand column to scholarships. Scholarships include: tuition scholarships from the Willow Springs Scholarship Club, book scholarships from the Willow Springs Scholarship Club, (1) $500 John East Memorial Scholarship, (1) Willow Care Nursing Home Scholarship, and a possibility of three other scholarships. Please return completed applications to Mrs. Petrus’ office. Deadline: April 1, 2011.
University of Missouri Summer Camp Program – This program introduces outstanding high school students to the numerous engineering opportunities available at Mizzou. Applicants must be currently enrolled as a high school sophomore or junior and be in the upper 25% of their class. Xi Chapter, Delta Kappa Gamma Scholarship – $750 to a graduating female senior who is planning on going into teaching. Needs an application, transcript, and letter of recommendation. Applications are available in Mrs. Petrus’ office. Deadline: April 1, 2011
