The summer of 2011 was a very productive season for Willow Springs FFA. There were four students to contribute their time from July 10-16 to participate in the South Central District Fair, more widely known as the Heart of the Ozarks Fair in West Plains, Missouri. The attendants were Chris Corman, Hunter Corman, Whitney Clinton, and Phil Collins.

Phil’s animal was purchased by “Fin to Fur”, a local business in West Plains, by owner, Mr. Winston Tucker, for $700. The money made was donated to the Willow Springs FFA Chapter to be used for the Angela Redburn FFA Scholarship.  Prior scholarship winners include Preston Collins, Codey Collins, Weston Lemon, and the winner from last year, Dustin Kupitz.  Animals shown by Willow Springs FFA students are also part of the SAE (Supervised Agriculture Experience) program.

Also pictured, Lindsey and Jason “Tyler” Osborn and their animals. Lindsey’s hog won Grand Champion in the live show, her animal being purchased by Marge Slayton Insurance in West Plains, Missouri.

The FFA was created in 1928
in Kansas City, Missouri, at the Baltimore Hotel. The official colors of the
National FFA Organization are national blue and corn gold.
