Faculty Members Move to New Positions
by Jessica Smoot
Many changes have occurred since the last school year, and one of these changes has been in the faculty and staff, as they juggle new positions in and out of the high school building.
Coach Vincent McCrosky, the former ISS teacher, has moved to the high school building to teach Academic Enrichment, a class designed to assist struggling students. He says he is enthusiastic about and enjoys the more positive role he now plays.
“I can use my humor; I can talk to the kids. I love to help them make better grades. These are things that are going to affect them the rest of their lives. What you do now could possibly determine what you are going to make of the rest of your life!”
Mrs. Jennifer Douglas, previously the curriculum coordinator, has become the elementary principal. She says she enjoys the new challenge and loves working with the kids and the elementary staff.
Ms. Susan James, the former algebra I and algebra IB teacher, has retired from teaching, but she is still involved in the high school through her new job as the Check and Connect Program implementer. Ms. James says she enjoys being around the students and teachers in the school environment, although she is now in a different position.
Coach Chris Rodgers, Coach Chris Waggoner, Mr. Tim Mumaw, and Mr. Steve Dunlap have also changed positions. Coach Rodgers is the vice principal of the elementary. Coach Waggoner is the curriculum coordinator. Mr. Mumaw is the algebra II teacher, and Mr. Dunlap is now the head of transportation, as well as continuing his duties as vice principal at the high school.
