The Willow Springs tennis team played twice during the week of September 19-22 with a third game being rained out. The first match was Monday against Rolla. Rolla won 5-4, bringing the Bears overall record to 7-3. “It was a really tight match with an excellent team from Rolla.  Our doubles came through to make it close.  Beth and Nina beat a strong team and Katie and Tamara came back from down 4-1 to win.  Rolla was a good team and hopefully the experience will help us,” said Coach Marty Spence.

The second match was Tuesday at the Springfield Invitational Tournament.

“We go to the Springfield Tournament for the experience of playing tennis against new opponents on a big stage.  Bethany got a big win against Catholic’s best player, Annina lost to Joplin’s best, Emily and Shaylee played on the stadium court, and Tamara and Katie played on indoor courts.  It was a fun day and the girls competed well against some of the best players in the state,” Coach Spence said.

Thursday was to be the match against Parkview, but it was rained out with a makeup date to be decided. The next scheduled match for the tennis Bears is Monday at West Plains.
