 C.O.M.P. (Creating Original Music Project)  – This is a statewide competition that recognizes Missouri students who compose original music in a variety of styles.  The competition is open to students K-12.  Grades 9 – 12 categories are fine art, popular (including folk), Jazz, and Other.  Sacred compositions are acceptable in any category.  Winning compositions will be performed at the Creating Original Music Project’s Festival on Saturday, April 21, 2012 at the University of Missouri.  Winning composers and their schools will be awarded cash prizes.  To apply go to http://music.missouri.edu/COMP  Deadline:  January 2, 2012

HOBY Leadership Seminar – All sophomores are eligible to apply.  Only one student can be nominated from each school.  The Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership (HOBY) is a dynamic, interactive educational program designed to prepare our country’s youth to become effective, ethical leaders in their home, school, workplace and community.  Fee – $150 Deadline:  December 2, 2012

 

Missouri Junior Science, Engineering and Humanities Symposium will be held March 17 – 19 2011, at the University of Missouri – St. Louis.  This symposium is open to grades 9 – 12.  It will allow students to hear world and nationally-known scientists speak on their research interests, visit laboratories of practicing scientists in industries and universities, and compete for university scholarships and a chance to attend the National JSHS Symposium.  Students may apply for scholarship to cover the cost of the Symposium or pay $140 fee to attend.  Apply at http://www.umsl.edu/~sep/  Deadline  December 1, 2011

National Multiple Sclerosis Society Scholarship – Applicants must have Multiple Sclerosis or have a parent with Multiple Sclerosis.  They must also plan to attend an accredited post-secondary school, enroll in at least six credit hours per semester in coursework leading to a degree, license, or certificate, plan to enroll in an undergraduate course of study at an accredited two or four year college, university, or vocational-technical school in the United States and be a citizen or legal resident of the United States.  $1,000 – $3,000  Apply at www.nationalMSsociety.org/scholarship  Deadline:  January 13, 2012

The Christian Connector, Inc. – The Christian Connector provides a free Christian college information service as well as a $2,500 Christian college scholarship drawing.  Students can log onto www.christianconnector.com to request information and automatically be entered in the $2,500 scholarship drawing.  No Deadline given.
