They participated in a competition that is being called CAT CPS (Creative Problem Solving.) The students in their respective teams collectively chose a ‘problem’ or prompt and composed a skit that solves their problem. The teams create everything from the lines to the props, without any assistance from non-team members.

Elementary Hosts Muffins With Mom

by Jessica Smoot

Last week, the Willow Springs Elementary school hosted Muffins With Mom, an interactive connection day being incorporated into the elementary school’s annual programs.

Muffins With Mom was a fun-filled day for all involved, including elementary students, their mothers, and the hosting teachers. The elementary served the enthusiastic families chocolate chip muffins and drinks.

According to the Willow Springs Elementary principal, Mrs. Douglas, the school is planning to make the event an annual one, due to the good feedback received from parents, students, and teachers.

“Muffins With Mom was a good way to involve parents” stated Mrs. Douglas. Some of the classes read books with the moms, other classrooms held activities. The event was a great success for the elementary, as evidenced by the story told by Mrs Douglas of a young child, who, in a whimsical moment, asked if maybe they could add “Gramcrackers With Grandparents”.

Muffins With Mom, and its preceding event from the winter, Doughnuts With Dad, has quickly become a Willow Springs Elementary tradition, driven by the hope of involving even more parents in their student’s everyday activities.
